Shpongle are an atmospheric fusion of psychedelic dub, world music, ambient and trance. They occupy a space all of their own, completely unique in their expression and quite unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. What they produce is decidedly and delightfully weird and wonky. Often it feels like vertigo when listening to their tracks, as though you’ve ben propelled up to a great height. When it drops, it’s like a bomb going off. Explosions of ecstatic energy and swirls of beatific harmony. Chattering synths, acid squelches and hypnotic bubbles and bleeps punctuated with a deep throbbing bass. Tribal elements are intertwined with sacred mysticism. It’s multi-layered, complex, spiritual and philosophical – a hyper-futuristic thrill-ride into outer and inner space.

Psychemagik creates wonderful sonic soundscapes filled with joy and delight. They are pioneers and trailblazers, forging a path that is underscored by excellence. They are crate diggers of the finest quality and this is reflected in the lush evocative music that they produce. Whether they’re compiling a mix or producing their own symphonic sounds, their meticulous attention to detail is astounding. They are able to stir the emotions with ease, moving from the depths of melancholy to sheer bliss and back again. They specialise in downtempo dance music on their original productions and obscure funk on their mixes. Both avenues are excellent, well worth checking out. Let them cast their transcendent spell on you. Psychemagik are connoisseurs of sound-craft, tapped into the ineffable, a mainline to the Divine.

These DJ sets are designed specifically to combine relaxation with movement. You can sit down and be perfectly happy listening to the psychedelic dub, ambient, techno and house. Although, you may also get the urge to get up and dance. These mixes are great for when you’re pottering around. It starts off with “Starlight”, a mellow downtempo relaxing affair. Then, we witness “Twilight Of The Gods”, a gorgeous meandering journey through hypnotic multi-textured territory. “In-Ten-City” turns it up a notch with mid-tempo psy-trance, soulful house and deep techno. “Hit With A Tachyon Beam” gets all wonky, wobbly and weird with trancey psychedelic World vibes. “E-den” is ecstatic paradise lost, exploring the contours and colours of duality. “A Void Dance” takes us deeper and darker into a black hole but then explodes in a symphony of light. We bid farewell with “A Cosmic Wave”, an electro-dub reggae freak-out, the perfect coda to the proceedings.
