Of course, everyone knows what a Runnerfly is, and its appearance can be immediately recognisable. Naturally, it’s a kangaroo with butterfly wings; they’ve existed for thousands of years. Not on this planet, of course, not on this world. It exists within the realm of imagination and is, therefore, very real indeed. What we imagine, we create.

Those with a terrestrial approach may scoff at this assertion, preferring to believe only in what they can see with their two outward-facing eyes. These visual organs are limited in their acuity and can only see a specific bandwidth of the light spectrum. With the inner eye, the third eye, also known as the pineal gland or the seat of the soul, we can perceive a much greater range.

Those who are young, before they are enrolled in school, can tap into this vision with ease. After a time, this ability diminishes as they are taught what’s true and what’s real. The child stops believing in fanciful things. This is an error on the teacher’s behalf and a shame. A true and wise guide would nurture the imagination of the next generation, not tame it.

By adulthood, the imaginal realms are all but forgotten, with the weight of mundane matters heavy on our minds. Often, this creates a crisis that cracks our craniums open wide. We suddenly remember what it was like to dream. We want to recapture the magic that we lost and find wonder once again. This we can do by embracing the unusual and thinking of impossible things.

When we create, we breathe life into our creations. We imbue them with magical mystical life- force energy. They become a reality. In the infinite web of existence, anything is possible, and so the Runnerfly exists.

This card is calling you to break out of the box of limited thinking and extend yourself into your imagination. Allow visions to form in your mind’s eye of worlds weird and strange. Paint them, draw them, write about them, document them for all to see. In this way, we act as magicians, making our world more vibrant again.
