Amidst parched earth, a bride in soiled wedding regalia clutches justice’s scales, weighing events that led to this barren vista. Dark clouds reflect her disappointment – perhaps in others, perhaps in decisions or philosophies now revealed as folly. The abandoned sword signifies a hard fought battle now finished; the vacant throne, dominion fractured and destroyed.
Yet the scales impartially measure all deeds, regardless of rank or circumstance. Natural law judges each soul by the burden of their actions, not their intentions. We are all held to account by the same moral yardstick. None escape this cosmic tallying – scales balance lofty and lowly lifetimes alike. For a time dishonest weights may tip exploitation’s scales, but justice knows no mortal calendar. Patience and faith determine that the wise wait for its deliverance, rather than demanding swift reckoning.
Now our protagonist is stripped of illusion’s garb and pretexts of progress – all disguises are dropped that permit the cunning to posture as paragons of virtue while doing untold harm beneath the surface. The cloak of lies has been lifted by scales exacting and true. What remains is the person beneath the veil when power over others has been lost.
Let this reflect on our own hidden imbalances subtly tilting life’s outcomes. However noble the mind assures its motives, humility recognises each misstep stemming from inner pain and fear. Cast no blame on external forces without acknowledging the heart’s own shadows. The defeated tyrant’s realm is now left to conscience alone, the barren vista an external projection of internal unexplored deserts. When the heart lies fallow, so too the world. But redemption awaits those braving the journey within. Those that return to the love of self and others. Those that cherish the idea that forgiveness is an act of self-care.
Blame not the scales revealing what was long obscured. Weigh yourself and others on mercy’s tender beam. What love reveals no eye can see. There is always a road back to grace and home within oneself.
