The figure of a woman stands in the midst of a desolate and ruined city. She meets our gaze and raises her pistol aloft. She has a silencer on the end of her gun, showing that she usually likes to go undetected. She has the steely-eyed focus and determination of someone that has traversed the desolate wastelands of this barren world and thrived. It is obvious that she has had to be resourceful, as the red lipstick that stains her mouth shows that she knows where to find the things that make her feel authentic. It is one reminder of who she used to be.
This card calls on us to have the heart of a post-apocalyptic warrior. We must have courage when everything around us seems dark and in tatters. When the world around us feels like it has been destroyed, we must gather all our strength and courage to make it through in one piece. We may have lost our way of life – the comforts of the past are long gone – and we embrace a new reality where self-preservation is the priority.
When needed, putting ourselves first is not selfish. It’s necessary when we’re struggling to survive. Sometimes we need to hunker-down, hide-out for a while and initiate stealth mode. We must move amongst the shadows unseen. Sometimes we may even disappear off the map without any means of being contacted. All the communication lines are cut and there’s no cell phone service. We can’t help anyone else until we’ve found the means to rise.
After many battles, we begin to feel whole again. We adjust to the changes and the new landscape. We reemerge transfigured and transformed. It is then that we can become the leader that we always knew we could be. In fact, somehow the process has made us stronger. We are more resilient and able to cope with the challenges of life. We may sport a few scars but these haven’t killed us, we have healed.
Like a phoenix, we emerge victorious from the ashes of the firestorm. You have escaped the rage and sounds of thunder. You have passed through the mouth of the infernal beast. Its flames have fuelled your ascension. Now you are cleansed, elevated, restored to wholeness. Go boldly and shine
